Sound Camp

Back

In June 2017 Sisters Akousmatica invited five sound artists (Camilla Hannan, Dani Kirby, Georgia Lucy, Sarah Mashman & Sally McIntyre) to an unstructured residency at the Mt Pleasant Radio Observatory and Lisdillon, Tasmania.

The aim of Sound Camp is to provide an opportunity for female and gender-diverse artists to step outside the pressures of everyday life. We recognise that in a culture of deadlines, applications, projects and outcomes there is little time to find space to think, conceptualise, record, dream, talk, skill-share, eat and walk. Sound Camp aims to address these issues. #nooneleftbehind

We thank Jane Cotton @ Lisdillon, Dr Warren Hankey from the University of Tasmania and Arts Tasmania for making this happen.

This project was assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts.
